ART JOURNAL PROJECT (2014 - 2019)

The Art Journal Project began in February 2014 and was completed in December 2019.

In total, the work spanned 4 blank accordion journals and 90 panels, each representing a visual snapshot into the her life. Dated in the upper corner just like a diary, these multi-medium journals are an ongoing visual diary that capture the emotions of an experience with colors, metaphors, and poetry.

These journals were founded in the therapeutic nature of art-making – of sitting down in front of a blank panel and expressing without an attachment to outcome. The medium was not pre-decided but rather chosen based on a given emotional experience, from the messiness of charcoals to the containment of a fine tip pen.

Mediums that were used in the journals include: watercolor, acrylic paint, charcoals, oil pastels, pens (felt-tip, ball-point), as well as natural objects (leaves, petals) and cut-outs made to emphasize negative space.
